INSPIRING SUNSET IN THE DANISH COUNTRYSIDE

Image
SEPTEMBER 18: Today I want to make a few comments to the time of the year we are in right now. Late summer, early autumn.   On the southern hemisphere such as in Australia it is the other way around: late winter, early spring. Here we have had beautiful late summer days during this week. Chilly in the morning and in the evening. But very pleasant and inspiring.   Last night we visited close friends here. They are living on a farm outside a small village – surrounded by fields and an open blue sky. The early evenings around and just after sunset are magnificent.   So was it also last night. The sun had just “gone to bed” after a day’s nice work.   The horses in the nearby field enjoyed it as much as we did. It was calm, colourful, inspiring – and with beautiful colours such as yellow and blue ( the European colours, of course 😊   ) and with many more colours.   And the interesting thing is that each of us see this performance of colours in a different way. Some might – like me –

GREEN NUCLEAR POWER - A NEW SOLUTION TO OUR ENERGY AND CLIMATE PROBLEMS

Image
SEPTEMBER 12: A modern society needs a lot of energy to function well. This is also the case in Europe. Below you see a new overview made by EUROSTAT, EU’s Statistical Office in Luxembourg. It shows which sources we get our energy supply from today. As you see we get more than 25 % from nuclear power plants. There are 109 nuclear power stations in EU-27 ( in 15 member states ). It is in particular France, which produces a large part of its energy from nuclear. In the whole world there are today 440 nuclear power stations – placed in 30 countries. It is in my view evident that nuclear energy is indispensable in our societies. And it is also a fact that all the modern stations are run with huge safety rules. In more and more countries the interest for what is called GREEN NUCLEAR POWER is on the clear increase. This is energy based on THORIUM, not on uranium.   Just in India 62 power nuclear stations are being built right now – most of them based on thorium.   They will be op

ABOUT PRESIDENT TRUMP's 20.000 LIES DURING HIS PRESIDENCY

Image
SEPTEMBER 9: Very soon we will have presidential elections in the US – on November 3.   Everybody agrees that these elections are more important than they have been for a long time. Therefore, it is crucial for us all to follow and check all the claims and attacks, which are an important part of the election campaign.   We know that Trump is a master in spreading lies and distorted information. Washington Post has through its reliable Fact-Checking Team proven that the president has put forward 20.000 lies during his time in office!   The number of lies and distorted information during the latest 14 months has been twice as big as during his first 27 months.    Impressive ☹ See more details also on other fact-checking services keeping an active eye on the many lies: www.factcheck.org www.politifact.com   I ask myself, if the American voters really accept this situation ??!!

TURKEY - MY NEW BLOG ABOUT DEVELOPMENTS IN EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN

Image
SEPTEMBER 7: As I already mentioned on this blog on August 11 we are right now experiencing an increasing number of provocations from Turkey in the Eastern part of the Mediterranean.   Also, with threats about war president Erdogan tries to get access to areas of the Mediterranean, which according to international law do not belong to Turkey. At the same time he indicates that he no longer accepts all parts of the Lausanne Treaty of 1923, which defines what are Greek territories in the Aegean Sea, esp. the many islands.   This also includes the now Greek islands of Rhodes and Kos, which until after World War II were Italian. It is in my view very important that the world and not least Europe very actively follow these developments and stand up to threats and illegal actions. I try with a new blog TURKEY QUESTIONS to help creating a better knowledge and understanding for what is happening, not least what Turkey says and does. I will base it upon as many different reliable so

SEPTEMBER 2: Have you ever heard about the HUMAN LIBRARY ?   Instead of borrowing normal books you borrow a human book. The Human Library is, in the true sense of the word, a library of people. It hosts events, where readers can borrow human beings serving as open books and have conversations they world normally not have access to. Every human book from its bookshelves represents a group in our society that is often subjected to prejudice, stigmatization or discrimination because of their lifestyle, belief, disability, social status, ethnic origin, etc. The initiative to the Human Library was taken in Copenhagen in 2000.   It has had a huge success, so that it is now represented in 85 countries around the world. Everybody can take part. See more on its web site:   https://humanlibrary.org You can also find more about the library on Facebook and other social media. ABOUT SEPTEMBER

Image
September The name September comes from the Latin word Septem , which means seven. This month was the year’s seventh month, according to the old Roman Numa calendar. The years began on   March 1. In our contemporary calendar this month as we know is the 9th of the year. The old Danish name for this month is Fiskemåned ( Fish Month ). The reason was now that the fishermen caught the fat autumn herrings, which were salted and stored for the winter. These herrings were also a welcome product for the fast period   in the Catholic countries. The scale of the export of these fat autumn herrings was the economic basis of Denmark's position as a superpower in the 17 th century. September also had its own specific verses in the old days in Denmark: Now, the farmers can treat the grain, And the fishermen catch the herring fresh. Lard I like much to eat and lovely sheep's milk and goat's milk too. The old Danish weather warnings also have something to contribute to
