My special comments today will also be about FACEBOOK.  Two days ago I wrote that - though I am a strong supporter and frequent user of FB - I also see serious problems related to this service.

The other day I mentioned one danger:  That too many people believe all the read or hear on FB.  STOP THAT. Always be positively critical. Ask yourself:  Can this really be true?!  This will save you a lot of worries and  mistakes.

The second and even more serious problem is - as we all know - dark and vicious forces try to do what they can to spread lies, misinformation and smear campaigns on FB. The latest US presidential election and the British EU referendum in 2016 are well known cases.  There are many more.  And often it is systematic efforts from Russia, China, and others who for political reasons are very active in this field.  We all have to be much more vigilant to all that.  Much is fortunately being done by many democratic countries and the EU to fight it.  But much more has to be done.  Also to say to the countries concerned in negotiations that : Enough is enough.  And say it with force and with possible sanctions on the table.

The third danger with Facebook is that the company itself continue to refuse to stop and lies and false information. It claims it has started. But certainly not in a convincing way.  The American-Hungarian billionaire and philatropist, George Soros, said recently in a speech at Davos, that FB due to its attitide contributed very positively to the election of Trump in the last elections. And that they will do it again in the autumn unless…….    He has now donated several billion dollars to universities and other institutions fighting fake news and lies on FB and other areas of the web.   Money well spent!

MY FIRST SCHOOL DAY - April 2, 1952

MY VERY FIRST SCHOOL DAY -  April 2, 1952: Today ( April 2, 2021 )   it is exactly 69 – sixtynine – years ago, since I started going to school. This is a long time ago. It was in 1952. But I still remember it, as if it were yesterday. Can you understand that ? MAY 9 - EUROPE DAY

MAY 9: This day is EUROPE DAY.   The day, when the French foreign minister Robert Schuman on behalf of his government presented the so-called Schuman Plan.   Its essence was that European countries should start a very close cooperation with strong commitments, so that war between them would be impossible in the future.   How could you make war impossible? The participating countries had to give up their sovereignty over their coal and steel production and together create joint institutions, which would be responsible for the management of coal and steel in the future.   And as coal and steel are both essentials in any war, this would make war between the countries impossible.
