CULTURAL OFFERS ON-LINE; ITALY; FAKE NEWS

Yesterday I suggested that we together should make a collection of short descriptions on how we experience this special time of lock-down.  I have received many positive reactions back from you.  And I have also received the first very interesting contributions.  May I suggest that you also make your contribution – 10-20 lines about what you do, what you experience, what you think, etc.   This will inspire everybody.  Then mail them to me. And I will step by step put the contributions into a special blog, which it is easy for all of us to use.   Ok?

I also shared three websites with very interesting cultural offers from Europe and around the world in my latest mail to you.  Today I will send you four more very interesting and inspiring offers from our rich cultural world:

1.       Europeana:  over 3500 European museums, libraries and archives. An EU initiative.

http://www.europeana.eu/en

2.       12 Worlds-Class Museums you can visit on-line:

3.       The Guardian’s list of virtual museums:

4.       Royal Opera House – free on-line broadcasts:

Have a lovely tour around these places. And you get the best experience by using a computer or laptop screen, as a phone screen only has a rather small screen.

And then the CORONA:  Enclosed my newest overview with the latest official figures from yesterday. It is noticeable that the increase in % of most of the figures is smaller than earlier.  If it continues that way it is very positive.  Of course, it will only be really good when there no longer is any increase at all. According to the specialists this can probably only be expected at the end of April.

We are all most worried about our Italian friends. They are much worse hit than anybody else. Until yesterday with 60.000 infected and 5.476 deaths.  Especially the province of Lombardia in the north – with the city of Bergamo in a very critical situation – is hard hit.

If you want to follow the development in Italy in more details you can use these two on-line English language Italian media:

THE LOCAL:   https://www.thelocal.it/

CORRIERE DELLA SERA:   https://www.corriere.it/english/

Of course, we also see a lot of fake news about the Corona circulating.  The Russians are as usual very active in contributing to that.  And so are many others.

The British TV-station ITV has made an overview:

On Thursday afternoon the EU heads of state and government will have a special summit ( by video conference ) on the Corona crisis – and what EU does and should do to help.   Therefore, my comments tomorrow will concentrate on what EU has done so far and is doing for the moment.
